SYLLABUS
Overall Goal: To equip students with a comprehensive understanding of graphic design techniques in Adobe Photoshop software and prepare them for professional careers in the industry.
This course will be divided into three main phases:
Phase 1: Photoshop Fundamentals (Month 1)
Module 1: Introduction to Photoshop
- Interface overview: Workspace, tools, panels, menus
- Understanding digital images: Pixels, resolution, file formats (JPEG, PNG, TIFF, PSD)
- Color Modes: RGB, CMYK, and Grayscale
Module 2: Basic Editing Techniques
- Image cropping and resizing
- Exposure and color correction: Levels, Curves, Brightness/Contrast
- Selection tools: Marquee, Lasso, Magic Wand
- Making adjustments and selective edits
- Layers: Introduction, creating, editing, and using layer properties
- Blending modes: Understanding their effects and applications
Module 3: Working with Text
- Adding and editing text layers
- Character and paragraph styles
- Text effects and transformations
Phase 2: Intermediate Techniques (Month 2)
Module 4: Advanced Selection Techniques
- Refine Edge tool and its options for precise selections
- Color Range selection for selecting based on color
- Channels and their use in selections
Module 5: Masking and Compositing
- Creating and editing masks
- Non-destructive editing with masks
- Composite images: Combining multiple photos
- Blending techniques for seamless compositing
Module 6: Retouching and Restoration
- Dodge and Burn tools for adjustments
- Clone Stamp and Healing Brush for removing unwanted elements
- Frequency Separation for advanced skin retouching (optional)
Module 7: Filters and Adjustments
- Exploring Photoshop filters: Blur, Sharpen, Noise reduction, etc.
- Selective adjustments with Adjustment Layers
- Creating custom filters and effects (optional)
Phase 3: Advanced Techniques and Workflows (Month 3)
Module 8: Vector Graphics with Photoshop
- Introduction to the Pen Tool: Creating shapes and paths
