DITA - (Diploma in Information Technology Application)
SYLLABUS
Overall Goal: To equip students with a comprehensive understanding of information in computer technology applications and prepare them for professional careers in industry.
This course will be divided into two main phases:
Semester 1: Fundamentals & Concept Building (6 months)
- Fundamentals of Computer: This module will introduce you to the basic concepts of computers, including their history, generations, hardware components, software types (system and application), and block diagrams.
- Operating System (Windows): You’ll learn how to navigate the Windows operating system, including essential tasks like file management, customizing settings, and understanding different user interfaces.
- Microsoft Office Suite: This section will delve into three core applications within the Microsoft Office suite:
- Microsoft Word: Learn to create, edit, format, and manage text documents, including reports, letters, and resumes.
- Microsoft Excel: Gain expertise in creating and manipulating spreadsheets for data analysis, calculations, and creating charts and graphs.
- Microsoft PowerPoint: Master the creation of professional presentations with slides, multimedia elements, and effective presentation techniques.
- Typing Test: Typing speed, spelling correction, word space & punctuation position correction.
- Project on Learned Skills: You might have a capstone project where you apply the skills learned throughout the course to a practical scenario. This could involve building a database application, creating a complex presentation, or automating tasks using a programming language
Semester 2: Advanced Technological Skills & Development (6 months)
- HTML: Introduction to basic HTML
- Introduction to Programming: Gain an understanding of programming concepts like algorithms, flowcharts, and basic programming structures. This might involve a beginner-friendly language like C – language.
- Internet and Email: This module might cover the basics of using the internet, including web browsing, searching engines, email communication, and internet safety.
- Project on Learned Skills: You might have a capstone project where you apply the skills learned throughout the course to a practical scenario. This could involve building a database application, creating a complex presentation, or automating tasks using a programming language.
Assesment
Regular assignments and projects to test understanding and practical skills.
Midterm and final exams to assess theoretical knowledge.
Portfolio review and presentation to evaluate skill and professionalism.
